Betty Crocker I am not...

It's no secret that I can't cook. My husband knows, my friends know, my family knows, people at wedding showers even knew that I had no idea what happens in a kitchen besides getting something to drink out of the refrigerator. And last night I proved beyond a reasonable doubt that I need help. Its my month to host Pokeno and when you host Pokeno you have to make dinner. I am 2 mistakes away from ordering pizza.

I decided that I would make Taco soup since the weather was cooling down a little and because it sounded super easy. I called my grandmother and got her recipe. We talked about quantity and if she thought the regular recipe would make enough. After our conversation I decided to double it. BIG mistake. If I cooked on a regular basis I would have known that I don't have a pot big enough to hold a double recipe of Taco Soup, well it will hold majority of the ingredients but not the 6 cups of water required to make it soupy. So at 10:00 last night I'm spooning 2 lbs of meat, corn, tomatoes, and tomato sauce into a smaller pot. Then I decided to empty the smaller pot into a zip lock and freeze it for a later serving. Problem solved? Probably not. Now I don't know how much water to add to make tonight's soup since I had to cut it in half and since I don't know if I cut it exactly in half I don't know if it should take 3 cups or 2 1/2 cups so its pretty much going to be a disaster. At 11:00 last night my kitchen looked like Martha Stewart had internally combusted and not in a creative way.

Anyway so the moral of the story is that I seriously need to look into some cooking classes or just general common sense in the kitchen classes.

And bless those poor ladies that are coming over tonight. If your reading this, you might want to make sure to stop and pick up something on the way because I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have anything edible to offer.
