Great Expectations

People tell you all kinds of things to expect when you get pregnant but there are a few things they leave out. Probably out of fear that if they tell you, you'll think twice about getting knocked up. Sure, you expect your body to change through out the pregnancy but there are some places that you just don't expect to grow along with your belly. For instance, your upper arms. Mine. are. huge. I wore a shirt with a cuffed short sleeve a month ago and it worked out fine. I put the dang thing on the other day and the sleeves about cut off my circulation. Your butt. Well, that's just a given but today I'm a little more sensitive about it because I'm having to wear a dress as a shirt because my ever expanding butt is much to big to fit inside. Your fingers. I always thought I would chalk this up to swelling but seeing as how I had to lube up my hand this morning to get my rings on and I'm not swollen, it's obviously due to something else. And the buck doesn't stop here, although my story has to. If I openly and honestly detailed every body change I've experienced so far Darrell would have a heart attack. And probably demand that the blog be destroyed. (There has to be one modest person in this marriage and we all know it's not me!)

Moral of the story - Your body changes in ways you never even thought it would but in the end it will all be worth it. Every stretch mark. Every dimple. They're all for an amazing cause- your baby!

P.S. Another side effect of pregnancy is that you become terribly optimistic. Even the worst of worst pessimist will automatically convert to optimism. You really have no choice in the matter. You have to believe that your pregnancy will be without complications, nothing will go wrong during the delivery, once that baby pops out you're going to shrink back down to your high school weight, your child will be perfect from beginning to end, they will never do any of the stupid things you did in high school and college, and that you will protect them from any and everything that ever threatens to harm them, because if you don't believe those things then pregnancy would be very depressing and you'd probably never do it again. ever.
